NEXT MEETING WILL BE MONDAY SEPTEMBER 15TH AT 7PM IN PARENT ROOM. Monday’s seem to be a good time for regular meetings. We will decide on an appropriate schedule during the September meeting.
Back to School BBQ Eddie Pate and his co-chair are planning the Back to School BBQ.
The BBQ will on Thursday, August 28th at 6 PM.
Natalie W provided Eddie with at list of volunteers from last year’s volunteer list.
Eddie will provide the board with a list of need like he did last year.
Kindergarten classrooms have an open house on the same day as BBQ at 4:30 or 5:00 PM.
Steel drums played last year during the BBQ, but they are not available this year.
Will be a good idea for teacher and PTA Board to have name tags. Different color for teachers vs. PTA. Laura Ploudre will have name tags ready for us to put on so parents and students can ask questions.
We will have volunteer sign-ups for the first couple of events at the BBQ. WE NEED SOMEONE TO COMMIT TO MAN THESE SIGN-UP SHEETS. We will also provide a Parkwood Broadcast sign up sheet.
Reader Board We still do not have a volunteer for managing the reader board. Sarah will check with kindergarten play date dads to see if one of them will volunteer. If no other volunteers, KaLyn and Clayton Burmeister will coordinate with Laura.

Pace – September 10th – 25th. Pace is a secure credit card registration program were both the credit card holder and the school receive funds for purchase made on registered credit cards.
Kathryn Beich gift wrap sale – October 1st -15th with delivery by November 24th.
There will be a flier in the back to school packet explaining fundraising efforts:

It will explain why it is good to donate, and
That cash is OK/GREAT.
- Renee want to do the ‘original works’ fundraiser.
- VOLUNTEER INTEREST FORM - This year it will include more detail the programs and what the time commitment includes (one day, one hour, weekly, etc.).
- THE WORK – volunteers are needed for August 23rd for back to school shoppers. Needs to be an adult.
The school is working on a Boom-a-rang type communication program. Communications are sent out in packets on a single day of the week. This will effect how PTA communications are distributed. Details are still being worked out. Possible to coordinate with Cut-and-Chat.
Lisa, the school office manager, needs copies of all PTA communications so she can answer parent questions when they call in.
OK to give PTA communications to Lisa. It works best to have fliers divided by class per class count.
Patty and Jan are working on a new volunteer flier. Will be done by mid month.
ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS
Need to coordinate space for programs. Natalie L. will coordinate with Laura.
Working on chess program, but needs to know how many are interested before organization will commit. Natalie will prepare a flier.
Piano lessons will continue.
Working on Spanish program.
Natalie is working on safety/pick-up/missing student procedures.
School is not sure what school funded programs will be available this year. Will be decided by SEA near the end of August.
Laura will check on legality of PTA grants/parent funding for programs.
Validity of teacher wish lists started last year. They will be continued this year.
BOARD NEEDS Mostly committee chairs, event chairs are needed. Otherwise we could fill in some of the CO-VP positions.
